Villa Baschieri

A family house on Monte Argentario · since 1888
Porto Santo Stefano
Toscana · Italia
The house

A family villa on Monte Argentario, built in 1888.

The villa has been in our family ever since. It's a private home that we open for short stays — not a hotel.

The penthouse maisonette sleeps up to 6 in 3 bedrooms, with 2 bathrooms, a large kitchen, a living room, and roof and kitchen terraces for "al fresco" dining. The water is 200 metres away and the centre of Porto Santo Stefano is a 10-minute walk down the hill.

The area

On a wooded hillside above Porto Santo Stefano.

The villa stands among pines and tall trees on Monte Argentario — the Tuscan peninsula that rises from the sea 150 km north of Rome, joined to the mainland by two narrow strips of land. The bay opens 200 metres below, and the old harbour and the daily fish market are a 10-minute walk down the hill.

It's a quiet stretch — good for walks, swimming from the rocks at Cala Moresca and Cala Piccola, eating outside, and not much else. Feniglia and Giannella, the long sandy beaches, are 10 minutes by car.
